Using Your Learning Style

Do you know what your preferred learning style is? And, if you do know that, do you know how to make the most of any classroom situation no matter what your learning style is? Understanding what study approaches work best for you and how to adapt a course's materials to best fit your learning style can be a powerful way to become more successful in your studies.

To explore this issue, you might want to take a quick (5 minutes) self-assessment at VARK. Click "Questionnaire" on the right and complete the brief survey. The site will then tell you your preferred learning style/styles, and, most importantly, will give you some "help sheets" with tips on how to study best if you have a particular learning style.

Try it out and tell us what you think. Did the questionnaire assess you correctly, in your view? Were the study tips helpful?

  2. I agree. This is an excellent assessment tool! I like how you can tick more than one option to each question. Being a "multimodal" learner, a single answer did not apply to most of the scenarios. I also find it interesting that more than 60% of learners are "multimodal." Neato.
