Free Performance of Alice in Wonderland

Homeschool Troupe will present a free performance of “Alice in Wonderland” on Saturday, June 25 at the Mary Louise Jackson Amphitheater at Northern Virginia Community College, 6901 Sudley Road, Manassas. The venue will open at 7 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7:30 p.m., with free parking next to the amphitheater. In case of inclement weather, the show will be rescheduled for June 26.

In the play, Alice finds herself in a strange Wonderland where almost everyone seems to be raving mad. Animals, flowers and chess pieces talk and little girls change size. Join a mad tea party, play a game of flamingo and hedgehog croquet, find out who stole the queen’s tarts, get sage advice from the caterpillar and Humpty Dumpty, watch the Tweedle brothers have a boxing match and learn how to live backwards, as Alice tries to save her neck and become queen of the chessboard. Full of puns, poetry, bewildering battles and madcap characters, this story combines “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass” into one fantastic whirlwind through Wonderland.

Homeschool Theatre Troupe provides an enriching theatre experience in a respectful, fun, family-oriented environment. Participants are introduced to a range of drama skills such as acting, technical production and direction. Through joint efforts between the organization and families, the troupe produces two plays a year, with volunteers, cast and crew of vital and equal importance.

The performance is part of the Summer Evenings Under the Stars series. This free event is made possible with funding from the NVCC Educational Foundation. Series sponsors include Country Chevrolet and NOVEC. For more information check out NOVA’s event calendar.
