Holiday Things to Do: This Weekend or Later this Month

Wanna get into the spirit? Looking for something festive to do this weekend? Wondering what you are going to do with your in-laws when they come into town? Here are some suggestions:

1. Visit the National Christmas Tree: The National Christmas Tree and the Pathway of Peace is illuminated each evening from dusk until 11 p.m. through January 1st. Seasonal displays include a Yule log, a large-scale model train and a Christmas manger. Musical performances by volunteer choirs and dancers, will be held nightly on the Ellipse stage. Weeknight performances will be performed from 6-8:30 p.m. Weekend performances will be performed from 4-8:30 p.m. For further information or scheduled groups performing call (202) 208-1631. The seasonal display includes Santa's Workshop, which will be open at select times so that children can visit with Santa.

2. See Christmas Light Displays: Weather you want to view lights from the warmth of your car or get the experience of viewing them on foot, the DC metropolitian area has more light displays then you probably have free time. Here is a list of local displays can be found.

3. Go see The Nutcracker: The Washington, DC area has a wide range of theaters to enjoy this ballet masterpiece. Take the whole family to marvel over Clara’s Christmas fantasy when the wooden toy soldier comes alive and takes her on a magical tour of wonderful holiday adventures. Find the theater that best suits your style and budget. Get tickets early to get the best seat.
